QHSE Advisor

The QHSE Advisor will be responsible for the monitoring and measurement of the effectiveness of the Integrated Management System. This position will also provide operational QHSE support to the project and operation team to ensure all service delivery meets or exceeds quality assurance standards, as well as client specifications. Additionally, this position will lead audits and will ensure continued compliance with both regulatory and client requirements.

Job Duties include but not limited to:

  • Support the Global QHSE Lead with the development, maintenance and continual improvement of Company QHSE documentation and the Integrated Management System (IMS);
  • Support QHSE programs and initiatives by providing advice and guidance to the Operational and Senior Management teams;
  • Continually maintain an appropriate level of legislative awareness and knowledge within the region;
  • Review internal QHSE related policies and processes to ensure they are current and appropriate;
  • Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis and present recommendations for corrective and preventative actions;
  • Facilitate risk assessments /JSAs and make recommendations for mitigating actions;
  • Conduct site safety inspections;
  • Conduct external supplier / sub-contractor audits and internal company audits as required by the UTEC audit schedule;
  • Preparation of project quality plans and HSE related project documentation and participation in project HAZID / HAZOPS;
  • Conduct QHSE related orientation and induction for all new employees;
  • Monitoring of compliance with inspection and test processes and all documentation to as defined within the field quality control plan;

Education / Experience Requirements

  • IOSH recognized SHE qualification e.g. NEBSH Certificate/Diploma or equivalent;
  • Industry experience preferred;
  • Regionally recognized audit qualification e.g. Lead / Internal auditor of ISO standards;
  • Recognized incident investigation / Root Cause Analysis training e.g. Kelvin TopSet, Tap Root 

Requisite Skills

  • Experience with conducting presentations and group training courses is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred;
  • Computer literate, knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel);
  • Good verbal and written communications skills to all levels within the Company, customers and external agencies;
  • Understanding of relevant industry codes and standards and their applications (e.g. ISO   9000, 18000, 14000 standards, API, IEC, etc.);
  • Knowledge of subsea equipment and installation preferred;
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight schedule;
  • Must hold a valid passport free from status or restrictive conditions that preclude travel to and work in countries where UTEC routinely operates.

Party Chief

The Party Chief is UTEC's senior onboard representative and must ensure that all work is conducted in the best interests of UTEC and the Client. He/She must thoroughly understand work specifications, project requirements and client objectives, and is responsible for the safe, efficient and timely execution of, as well as Quality Assurance for, the project.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage day-to-day work program and submit completed Daily Progress Report to Project Management and HSE functions;
  • Maintain vessel equipment lists;
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCR);
  • Ensure quality control of data is performed;
  • Submit requests for consumables/spares and ensure timely maintenance of the onboard spares/equipment list;
  • Properly log, label and store all recorded data;
  • Complete Final Survey Reports.
  • Conduct personnel performance reviews/appraisals for direct reports, and provide specific performance data/feedback to supervisors of non-direct reports assigned to your projects;
  • Active participation in UTEC's competency program;
  • Help identify HSE, technical and personal development training needs within the Company.

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in geomatics or surveying science;
  • Relevant offshore field experience in a senior role is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of offshore survey equipment and software;
  • Effective supervision and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Knowledge of marine environment and offshore operations;
  • Current and valid offshore medical certificate;
  • Current and valid offshore survival certificate;
  • Must hold a valid passport free from status or restrictive conditions that preclude travel to and work in countries where UTEC routinely operates.

Senior Surveyor

The Senior Surveyor is responsible for ensuring accuracy of position data and sensor data during his/her shift. The Senior Surveyor may ensure that calibrations are performed in line with UTEC standard procedures and with any specific specification outlined in the scope of work, and that all results are concisely documented using the relevant UTEC forms.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Understand and adhere to UTEC standard operating procedures covering the following subsection of offshore operations: mobilization, software use and installation, data acquisition, data management, hydrography/oceanography, navigation and positioning and geodesy;
  • Use specialized technical software and offshore positioning systems;
  • Operation of sonars and echo sounders to provide data for the production of nautical charts and maps;
  • Work with remotely operated and autonomous underwater vehicles;
  • Use specialized technical software and geographical information systems (GIS) to manage the integration, processing and presentation of data to clients;
  • Prepare reports and present results to clients using appropriate formats;
  • Provide quality control to acquired data;
  • Mentor and provide support to Junior Field Staff;
  • Work as a member of a team of technical specialists.

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in geomatics or surveying science;
  • Relevant offshore experience is required;
  • Demonstrate competency for Senior Surveyor per IMCA competency scheme.

Senior Engineer

The Senior Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all engineering work carried out on site is conducted in the best interests of UTEC and the Client and meets all project safety, contractual and quality requirements The Senior Engineer shall also ensure that all equipment received to the vessel is configured correctly and calibrations and certification is kept up to date. The Senior Engineer will delegate duties to engineers and ensure all are followed through in a timely manner.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Confirm equipment is tested and properly operating upon receipt offshore;
  • Monitor equipment status and location throughout project lifecycle and be responsible for identification, documentation, and action on planned maintenance and equipment calibration/certification as required;
  • Report on defect reports raised/received;
  • Provide technical support for offshore equipment;
  • Ensure adherence to Standard or Project procedures;

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Education in Electronics or Engineering preferred;
  • Field experience as a Survey Engineer preferred.

Senior Data Processor

The Senior Data Processor is responsible for the on-board processing, QC and management of all acquired sensor and positioning data as well as the production of associated charts.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Process acquired data sets using the Company's selected processing software;
  • Discuss the processing requirements of individual datasets with project team and client;
  • Prioritize processing tasks;
  • Utilize quality control software to analyze data at various stages in processing sequence;
  • Discuss requirements and results with Party Chief on a regular basis;
  • Prepare technical reports;
  • Mentor and provide support to Junior Field Staff;
  • Work as a member of a team of technical specialists.
  • Adhere to Company standards in order to maintain quality.

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Field experience as a Survey Data Processor preferred.
  • Survey Data Processing experience, Strong AutoCad Skills, Microsoft Office
